Metrics/DA Research Options


Directions:

Pick ONE of the following topics listed. However, if you find something else that you would like to research that involves our current topic, let me know ASAP and you can probably do it!


Requirements:

  1. Typed

  2. Must be at least 350 words with sections labeled

  3. Brochure or pamphlet

  4. Must be creative, colorful, & contain 3 images

  5. Must answer the question thoroughly, yet so an 8th grader could read it!

  6. Must cite all resources with www.easybib.com


Topics:

  1. How did Lavoisier’s work benefit people during his lifetime?

  2. Discuss the history of this country’s conversion from English customary units to metric units.

  3. Write an account of your daily routine. Use metric units to describe the objects and processes in your life.

  4. Compile a pictorial dictionary of objects to demonstrate metric units. (The objects should be easily recognized as having a standard size.)

  5. Place an egg in a large glass and cover it with 400 mL of water. Determine how many teaspoons of table salt (sodium chloride) must be dissolved in the water to get the egg to float. Repeat the experiment with sugar, sodium carbonate (washing soda), magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts), and sodium sulfate (Glauber’s salts). Compare the results.

  6. Collect and determine the density of at least five different samples of rocks.
